Hybrid Systems

The Day-Light System is a innovative hybrid daylighting unit utilizing fluorescent T-8 or T-5 lamps to illuminate a building interior during non-daylight hours. Hybrid systems are available for hi-bay, low-bay and finished ceiling designs, and for new construction and retrofit projects.
The skylight mounting frame is made of extruded aluminum alloy 6063-T5 with a minimum thickness of .093 inches and have mitered and heliarc-welded, water-tight corners with integral condensation and weepage gutters.
The upper skylight dome is low profile, .187 inch or greater overall thickness and 50% or greater high-impact clear prismatic acrylic. The intermediate lens (normally used only on refrigerated buildings) is .125 inch or thicker clear acrylic. Interior diffusing lens is a one piece molded 50%-70% transmittal acrylic material. Transmittance specified per job.
The light well is made of a clean, unpainted, unmarred and untarnished reflective light shaft.

Passive Daylighting

The Passive DaylightingTM System uses an innovative prismatic dome, reflective light shaft and diffusing lens to light a building's interior.

Active Daylighting

The Active DaylightingTM System uses sun-tracking mirrors to redirect sunlight into a reflective light well and onto a diffusing lens. It provides a building's interior with high levels of well-diffused light, up to an average of 10 hours per day on sunny and bright cloudy days.

The skylight mounting frame is made of extruded aluminum alloy 6063-T5 with a minimum thickness of .093 inches and has mitered and heliarc-welded, watertight corners with integral condensation and weepage gutters.

The skylight dome is a custom designed, vacuum formed, clear, high impact lens. The preformed plastic sheet is 3/16 in. thick acrylic with a DR acri-tuff resin blend to achieve a very high impact strength to prevent damage from hailstorms and vandalism, while also providing a stronger lens for fall protection.

The sun tracking mirror assembly is mounted to aluminum square tubing and driven by a low voltage gear motor. The mirror assembly has 9 reflective aluminum panels that are preset to various angles to redirect light from low sun angles into the light shaft. The mirrors also provide shading in high sun angles to prevent excess light levels, which can produce radiant heat.

The So-Dark Motorized Shade ScreenTM is built directly into the skylight frame. It allows the skylight to be darkened to any degree of darkness at the flip of a wall switch.

The frame of the shade unit is made of 6063-T5 aluminum with a minimum thickness of .093 inches and has mitered, hellarc-welded, watertight comers.

The screen material is made of UV-protected vinyl and weighs no less than 12 oz. per square yard.
The shade control switch is three-position and wall mounted.

The drive assembly is a 12-volt, DC gear motor. The system wiring is 16-gauge, 2-conductor stranded wire with PVC jacket. If fire protection is required, then Teflon-coated 16-2 is used. The transformer is 115/120-volt AC to 12-volt DC.

NLCI manufactures a variety of sizes of lighting controls and lighting packagesfor your design needs.  For larger spaces, we supply 2 stage PLC design controllers designed into single enclosures with all the required lighting contactors and sensors. Our controllers are custom designed for your facility and can be adapted far any size space, even sites with multiple switch or breaker locations. For smaller spaces, we can supply you with ceiling and wall mounted sensors as well as wall switch replacements. We have completed thousands of lighting retrofits along with our daylighting projects. We can provide a "bundled" project estimate for daylighting, lighting, and controls along with energy calculations and design documents. We work with one of the Nation's largest lighting companies to assure you professional and cost efficent lighting and electrical solutions.

Curb Types

NLCI manufactures a variety of sizes of metal roof curbs to fit the needs of the application.  The overall height or outside dimensions can be designed for each specific type roof.  NLCI curbs can be installed on flat or pitched roofs with any type of roof system including exposed metal.  A powder painted security grille is standard and included in all NLCI curbs for roof opening safety during and after construction.

Curbs typically will be 8" high above the finished roof by the size of the skylight required and shall be constructed of 18 gauge galvanized steel, with 3" flanges and screwed together corners.  Curbs shall have a reflective integral security grille, made up of 1/2" diameter steel tubing welded to a flat mounting strap for fastening to the inside at the top of the curb.  Bars shall be placed in one direction on a 6" O.C. spacing.  Curbs shall be fastened to the roof deck with # 12 screws on 12" centers.

Fully welded galvanized or galvalume curbs can be provide for metal roofs with any type of profile.

Lighting Diffusers

NLCI manufactures and supplies a full line of interior diffusers including our patented sun point lens. We will custom design your diffusor to guarantee you the light quality and quantity you desire. We provide drp, pyramid, flat and parabolic lens in a wide array os sizes and light transmittance in acrylic or polycarbonate materials.
